Tsukiji Fish Market,one of Tokyo’s 11 fish markets,is the worlds largest fish markets by size.Since it was built in 1935, it has sold fresh fish, fruits vegetables, and more from all over the country, Over the 70+years, it has catered to the eating habits of the japanese people and has been home to seven wholesalers, and an incredible 1000 intermediate wholesalers. Each day, over 2000 tons of marine products are handled and sold.

In addition to the fish, vegetable, and fruit markets, there are also many large tourist destinations surrounding the market. Famous restaurants serving all sorts of…dishes,  Japan-made knives, tasty treats, a multitude of souviners, and more are all just a few minutes away.

Visitors are always welcome, and there is no fee coming. There are also opportunities for visiting the live auctions in the morning, although space limited.

For the full experience, it is highly recommended that you visit the morning fish auctions, which are truly a fascinating sight. They take place every day between 3:30 AM and 6M, and it is recommended that you arrive early, as space is limited.

 

                      Visiting the Inner Market

Even if you do not go to the early morning auctions, the experience of visiting the inner market is still wonderful. Seeing the bustling action, fish being masterfully carved, fish that you didn’t even know exist, and plenty of other wonderful sights is truly a magnificent sight. If you are planning on visiting without going to the morning auctions, it is recommended that you come around 8-9 AM, which is the busiest time of the day.

                         Visit the Outer Market

Around the market, you can find shops selling Japanese made knives, egg sushi, funny souvenirs, as well as various restaurants. There are plenty of different foods to try, things to buy, and things to see.

                                     Eat  sushi

There are many famous sushi restaurants right outside market. Although wait times can sometimes reach 4 hours, it is certainly worth it. If you like sushi, you must try one of these restaurants. It is recommended to visit during weekdays, as  are usually much shorter, meaning you’ll be indulging in much less time!
